Kickr - erg - z6/z7 - resistance mode

Hi
Even if i read all the online help, something is not clear to me.
How do you relate the erg % defined in workout to Z6/Z7?
Let's say i create a workout on the web site with 200% ftp in erg field
Z6 is defined as > 121%
Z7 is not formally defined

When i enable the "Override the L6/L7 vals" a resistance mode must be applied.
How do you decide if 200% is Z6 or Z7? How do you choose the correct resistance level ?

ERG mode and Sub-max/Max zones

Hi,

Correct, in terms of % of ftp, Z6,(submax) is over 121%, and Z7 (maximal) is "undefined". The default fixed resistance for these zones is to get around the fact that *in terms of zones* there is no good general FTP percentage that all users can use. The setting provides a way for you to customize the fixed resistance that the trainer gets for these zones. With fixed resistance you can "go your own pace" rather than having the trainer require a certain wattage.

If the interval itself specifies an ERG watts or FTP%, it will use that, even if the intensity zone is set for the interval as Z6 or Z7, UNLESS you have enabled the "Override ERG" setting.
If the interval does not specify an ERG watts or FTP%, it will use the fixed resistance levels specified in the app settings for intervals designated Z6 or Z7, irrespective of the "Override" setting.

Basically there is a gray area between Z6 and Z7. 200% is in that area. 150% seems solidly sub maximal, 300% is definitely maximal. What 200% means to you, Z6 or Z7, depends on your physiology and the length of the interval. For me, 200% for 15 seconds would be sub maximal, but 200% for a minute would be hard to achieve and definitely maximal.

If you have made a workout and specified Z6/7 ERG like 200% you probably want to leave the "Override ERG" setting off.
