Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon Online Training Plans by Cadence

The Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon online training plans have been designed by Cadence’s cadre of professional coaches to offer participants a structured build-up to the event through a twelve week training phase. The training phase is designed to first lay the proper foundation for the event and then to bring fitness to a peak for the week of the Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon.

The PIT online plan by Cadence are designed for first time participants and beginner to novice triathletes who have a few races under their belts. Cadence’s coaches work with triathletes who have a wide range of experience and strongly recommend that athletes with greater experience consider fully personalized coaching to draw out their best performances. The benefit to personalized coaching is that the plan is developed around your schedule and takes into account not only your personal goals but also your personal strengths and weaknesses. Cadence personalized coaching is available to any athlete from first timer to professional!

In general, PIT online plans by Cadence assume that the participant:

1. Is physically able to train for the event
2. Has clearance from his or her physician to begin a training plan
3. Is able to swim proficiently
4. Owns a bicycle
5. Owns an indoor trainer for the bicycle

If you have any questions about the above, need additional coaching on your swim as you begin the plan, or need to purchase any of these items please don’t hesitate to contact us at 215 508-4300 in Philadelphia or through email at performancecentercoaches@cadencecycling.com; we’ll provide you everything you need to train properly for the Philly Insurance Triathlon!

We also recommend that the participant use a heart rate monitor and a bicycle computer that will offer at least speed and cadence (pedal rpm) while on an indoor trainer. The heart rate monitor is a strap you wear on your chest when training that feeds your heart rate to a watch. Using a heart rate monitor will give you a measurement of your output during training and will help guide your training more precisely.

You will also likely need a wetsuit such as those made by Zoot Sports and Orca for the open water swim in the river on race day. Wetsuits not only keep you warm in cool water temperatures but the additional buoyancy they provide will make your swim faster and more enjoyable. The most important consideration in purchasing a wetsuit is getting a proper fit. Wetsuits are unlike any other piece of clothing you’ll wear and may be difficult to purchase without a consultation from a person experienced with wetsuit fitting experience.

At Cadence, we realize that you may be a first timer or beginner in the sport of triathlon and that you therefore may have a number of new purchases that need to be made. You may need major items like a heart rate monitor or cycling computer. We want to ease the burden on your pocket book! As a participant in the Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon training program by Cadence we are extending special pricing as outlined below. Just stop in Cadence Philadelphia with your user ID, password and e-mail address used to access your online training account and we will immediately apply these discounts to any of your purchases through May 31st, 2010.
